Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation has been on my wishlist for a while. For a long time I swore by the Teint Miracle foundation (which I still love), and I was keen to try more from the brand. I also love any product that adds radiance and glow, so the new Custom Glow Drops had me more than a little intrigued.
As we get closer to Spring, I like to switch up my makeup a little, and Lancôme is a brand that I haven’t been reaching for that much lately, so I was interested to see how well these performed.
Usually when it comes to foundation, I’m definitely more of a sheer sort of girl, so using a full coverage foundation is definitely a little out of my comfort zone. That’s not to say that I dislike full coverage, it’s just that my skin tends to respond better to lighter products.
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear certainly offers full coverage, but it doesn’t look like your face is caked in foundation. Sometimes it can feel with higher coverage foundations that your face is suffocating slightly underneath the product, but that’s not the case with this. It is surprisingly lightweight on the skin and extremely comfortable to wear thanks to the addition of the Eternalsoft Polymer.
Now this is described as a 24 hour foundation, but I like to remove my makeup each night, so I can’t verify those claims. However, I was impressed with the longevity of the foundation. You can put this on in the morning and it will still look good into the evening. Thanks to NAI pigments that maintain a consistent pH level with the skin, the colour stays true all day.
I was pleased to see that there was no shifting of the product either. I don’t have oily skin, but sometimes as the day progresses I can get a little oil in the T-zone which can cause some foundations to move about. Lancôme Teint Idole contains Perlite and Silica which are two of the most effective ingredients for absorbing oil, so if you are on the oily side, this should still work well for you. There was no smudging and it didn’t transfer, and overall, I am extremely impressed with this.
I’m still probably going to be more drawn towards the sheerer end of the spectrum, but for the days when I need that little bit more, then this is perfect. The shade that I was sent (038 Beige Cuivre) was far too dark for me, but I managed to tone down the shade with the help of concealer – I definitely need to go and get shade matched as there are 40 shades to choose from!
Then we get to the products that have really excited me – the new Custom Glow Drops. These are launched on January 31st and you’re going to bloody love them! Liquid highlighters used to terrify me, but I’ve gotten over that fear and now I love them. I’ve just had to learn (the hard way) that a little can go a very long way.
There are 4 shades available: Rose Glow, Champagne Glow, Bronze Glow and Golden Glow. I have two of them and I am so impressed with them. They have a high concentration of pigments and blend perfectly. If you prefer more of a natural glow, then you can add a drop or two into your foundation. Personally, I prefer to glow like a disco ball, so I apply them directly to the skin. You can go as subtle or as bold as you like, and you will have the prettiest glow.
Rose Glow is a very pretty rose gold shade that I can imagine will look amazing on warmer skin tones than I have. As I am naturally pale, I had to go very gentle with this one, but it did add a gorgeous pretty warm glow to my cheeks. My personal favourite is Champagne Glow – this was made for me. It’s a very very pale yellowy-white that adds brightness as well as radiance and I adore it. I had to stop myself covering my whole face with this as it is so nice.
Sadly the drops didn’t show up too well on my photos as the lighting bleached them out, but trust me when I say that these add such a gorgeous glow to your complexion.
The drops cost £26.00 and will be available from January 31st … go grab them all!
