The Jo Malone Wild Flowers and Weeds collection was one of those that I just couldn’t miss out on. It is so limited edition that very few press samples were sent out so I bit the bullet and purchased two of the scents.
Buying perfumes that you’ve never smelt before can be a bit of a risk, but I adore Jo Malone so I wasn’t too worried. I’ve yet to meet one of their colognes that I didn’t like and my blind purchasing paid off as these are incredible.
The Wild Flowers and Weeds collection consists of 5 scents that have been inspired by the unruly weeds and wildly wonderful plants and flowers that line the banks of a windy river. I love it when they do these limited edition collections as they’re always a bit different than the permanent scents.
With wild flowers and weeds nature takes over, with no rhyme or reason and makes things unexpectedly beautiful.
There are 5 scents in total in the Wild Flowers and Weeds collection:
Cade & Cedarwood
Willow & Amber
Nettle & Wild Achillea
Hemlock & Bergamot
Lupin & Patchouli
I opted for Willow & Amber and Hemlock & Bergamot as these sounded the most appealing to me. The bottles are 30ml and each cologne costs £49.00 each.
The expressive weeping willow, gently draping across the fresh morning water. Captured in the woody pairing of cashmere wood and smoky vetiver, enhanced by softly sensual amber.
I was drawn to Willow & Amber as it contains vetiver and pink pepper and I love how those smell. I do tend to really like smoky, woody scents, so I was confident that I’d love this … and I do!
It isn’t too smoky or too woody as the amber works to soften them. It wears really well and I can still smell it after 7 hours before feeling like I need a top up. Out of the two scents that I purchased, this is the one I would choose in an evening thanks to the vetiver.
Pink Pepper – the freshness of this cold spice brings lively effervescence to the scent.
Willow – captured and analysed using headspace technology. Brings a soft, clear woody note.
Amber – wraps the fragrance with woody warmth, imbuing the fragrance with sensuality.
Hemlock’s powdery petals, brightened with bergamot. A deadly yet unexpectedly delicate flower. Illuminated with golden mimosa and a floral flourish of heliotrope. Crisp and modern with a bite of cucumber.
I was really unsure of what to expect from Hemlock & Bergamot but it is by far my favourite. It is unlike any other scent I own and I’m a little bit obsessed with it.
It is definitely floral and quite sweet but there’s also a citrus touch and the bergamot and cucumber add a gorgeous freshness to it. At first it is quite strong when you first spray it, but it dries down into the most unusual but beautiful fragrance.
Bergamot – brightens with its sparkling, citrus freshness.
Hemlock – a delicate and airy floral note, complemented by mimosa and cassis.
Heliotrope – an embracing, powdery note with an almond facet, amplifying the floral notes in the heart.
I am so glad that I managed to pick up a couple of bottles from the Jo Malone Wild Flowers and Weeds Collection as they really are unusual yet stunning scents. They’re still available here but be quick as they are limited edition.
