I am slowly discovering the many scents that Jo Malone has to offer, and a recent discovery has been Mimosa and Cardamom. The aim is to eventually own everything on the Jo Malone website, but until my lottery numbers come up, for now I will start with this beautiful collection.
The scent was created by Marie Salamagne, the Master Perfumer, and was inspired by the bohemian spirit. Imagine the days of British travellers exploring the unknown world, returning home laden with all manner of exotic treasures. Imagine the time when artists were heavily influenced by the Orient and the colourful, sensual delights it offered.
The scent is described as being ‘warm, ethereal and mesmerising’, and it is also nice and modern, without assaulting the senses. For me, it is definitely a fragrance for the warmer months. Salamagne describes it as…
‘an unusual yet perfect pairing; the vibration of the cardamom with the sensual softness of mimosa. They are both radiant. Mimosa is the warm sun, cardamom the bright light.’
With a top note of Cardamom, a heart note of Mimosa and a base note of Tonka Bean, as well as notes of sandalwood, heliotrope and Damask rose, this really is the most beautiful scent. The whole range is so luxurious and is a very welcome addition to my collection.
If I ever win the lottery, then the plan is to won everything from Jo Malone. Imagine being able to afford to have their candles all over your house. To have a bathroom full of Jo Malone products would probably make me ridiculously happy too. For now, I will have to make do with adding to my collection as and when I can … now I’m off to buy a lottery ticket!
