When the Jo Malone Charity Home Candle arrived on my doorstep, I was blown away by how pretty it is, and full of respect for one of my favourite brands.
I’ve been very open about my mental health struggles over the past year and I’ve faced abuse, judgement and a hell of a lot of nastiness. I’ve also received an amazing amount of support which has meant the world to me.
Even though you see so many more people talking about their mental health issues, there’s still a stigma surrounding it. People are still ashamed of what they feel and tend to hide these feelings. There’s been a recent spate of celebrity suicides, reminding us that mental health doesn’t care if you’re rich or successful – it can affect all of us.
I never thought that one day I’d be downing morphine and wine hoping that I’d never wake up, but I did and I am still picking up the pieces from that. Even though life is now a lot better than it was back then, there are still days where I struggle and feel the darkness coming over me.
It’s going to be a lifelong battle and the more awareness that can be raised, the more understanding and support that will be available for those who need it.
At Jo Malone London we are proud to support those living with mental health problems. Empowering people to recover. Reconnect. Grow. Through dedicated projects with inspirational charities. Raising awareness. Providing support. Stamping out stigmas, one step (and Candle) at a time.
There are 3 Jo Malone Charity Candles:
Each candle costs £47.00 and Jo Malone will be donating 75% of the cost (less VAT) to support individuals and families who are affected by mental health problems.
I can’t even express how amazing this is – for such a high profile company to raise awareness and to make such a large donation is just incredible. I already adored Jo Malone but this has taken that love and adoration to the next level.
After my suicide attempt, not only did I lose friends, but I also lost a lot of work. There are companies who dropped me so fast that it actually hurt. To have a company that I love not only support me, but others in similar positions, means so much.
I was sent the White Lilac & Rhubarb candle and it smells beautiful, as well as being beautifully designed.
A daring juxtaposition. Tart and vibrant rhubarb
cuts through delicate florals. Soft lilac, sensual rose
and sun-loving heliotrope. Evoking the delightful
scent of a summer garden in early bloom.
If you want to do your bit for mental health, then this is a lovely way to do it. You get a beautiful candle and are helping to support those who are struggling.
Well done Jo Malone!
