Jo Malone Bronze Wood & Leather is the newest release from Jo Malone and I’ve been lucky enough to be sent a bottle to try. I’ve got quite a few Jo Malone reviews coming up and this makes me more than a little bit happy.
Bronze Wood & Leather is one of the Cologne Intense fragrances and whilst it is unisex, this is definitely one to consider for the man in your life.
Bronze Wood & Leather evokes the scent of sultry leather encased in a medley of woods. At once smoky and warm, bronzed by the sun’s evening rays. Enlivened with vibrant juniper and fresh grapefruit and finished with a mysterious twist of vetiver.
When you first spray this, all you can smell is the leather and the smokiness and at first you wonder how it can ever be a cologne for a female, but once it settles, the juniper and grapefruit come through more. I love scents with vetiver, but this definitely needs the fruity notes to cut through the leather.
For me, it is a little too masculine for me to wear alone, but like with other Jo Malone colognes, this layers well with other scents and this makes it a more wearable fragrance for me.
Layer with Wood Sage & Sea Salt
You end up with a fresh, woody fragrance, with warming vetiver and gualacwood enlivened with fresh sea salt.
Layer with Pomegranate Noir
The result is a warm, intense and sensual fragrance with patchouli and gualacwood, deepened with leather.
Layer with Myrrh & Tonka
You get an oriental, woody scent that is enriched with deep, resinous myrrh warmed with a cashmere wood.
For me personally, I love layering it with Pomegranate Noir (my favourite Jo Malone scent) as it keeps the scent as a warm, rich fragrance but with the added femininity I prefer.
