Jo Malone Black Cedarwood & Juniper is the newest addition to my Jo Malone cologne collection and it is a woody wonder.
Back in November, we had a little wander around Selfridges and I spent a good chunk of time sniffing the Jo Malone colognes that I hadn’t tried before. I fell in love with a lot of them, but something kept drawing me back to Black Cedarwood & Juniper. I added it to my Christmas list and hoped for the best. Luckily Mick is very well trained and knows that when I put Jo Malone on the list then he’d best buy it lol.
Midnight rain. Seductive with the carnal touch of cumin and chilli leaves. Dark with cedarwood. Humid with moss. Modern and urban.
I think what initially drew me to this scent is the fact that it is definitely unisex (leaning slightly more towards the masculine side of the spectrum). I’m getting Mick into Jo Malone so he can wear this one too … if I let him.
When I wear this on it’s own, it is a little too woody for my taste, but when I pair it with my beloved Pomegranate Noir, the result is sublime. I love Jo Malone colognes and the fact that you can blend and layer them to create a unique scent. I’m going to be trying this out with some of my other colognes and see what it works well with.
Cumin, Chili Pepper
Jo Malone Black Cedarwood and Juniper starts off quite heavy, but it dries down to a softer, lighter and fresher scent, so if when you first spray it you find it too woody, rest assured that it does settle and calm down. For me, I do prefer it with other scents, but if you like fresh woody scents, then you will love this.
