The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer has been over 20 years in the making and it isn’t hard to see why. Ladies, welcome to the concealer you never knew you needed but can never be without.
It launches on August 23rd, but I’ve been lucky enough to get my paws on it early. I had been invited to the launch event but couldn’t make it and the FOMO was real!
Prior to Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away, there had only been one concealer in the Tilbury arsenal – The Retoucher – and another one was needed. The Retoucher is amazing, especially if you want to brighten the under eyes, but if you have skin issues you need covering, it isn’t always the best option. The happiness I feel that Charlotte has developed a meatier option is probably way too high when you consider it’s just makeup, but we all know I’m more than a little obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury.
So what is the deal with Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away? Well, it’s full coverage for a start and it is described as a miracle stick that covers skin issues in just one swipe. If you suffer from dark circles, redness, pigmentation, imperfections and blemishes, then you’re going to want this in your makeup bag. I get very dark circles under my eyes because I don’t sleep well, so I swiped this under my eyes and I was actually amazed. The dark circles were gone and I looked so much more awake. I also get small patches of redness and they vanished too.
I was sent shades 2 and 3 from the Fair end of the spectrum (there are 16 shades in total), and I am very tempted to get Shade 1 when it launches just because I like to really brighten my under eyes. The formula is nice and creamy and it is genius – if you have areas you want smoothing out, (again this is my under eye area), the concealer basically stretches and smoothes the area. It is almost like elastic and it has been described as Spanx for the eyes. You’ll also gt up to 15 hours wear out of it, so it’s going to last you all day.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away has a pointed sponge applicator that enables you to do broad swipes, or more focused application and it’s so much nicer to use on delicate under eyes than some other concealers. You could probably use the sponge to blend it out as well, although I prefer a Beauty Blender. You do need to twist the tube quite a few times before your first use, but there’s a window on the tube which allows you to see how much is left.
I have to say that I am seriously impressed with this concealer and it was well worth the wait. At £29.00 it’s not cheap, but worth every bloody penny!
