What I Got For Christmas posts are always a tricky one. Some people hate them and see them as bragging, whilst the rest of us love them. I’m a nosy cow and love to see what others have got. I don’t see it as bragging … it’s more someone being excited and appreciative. This year I wasn’t sure whether to write mine after I got some negativity towards one of my presents, but then I thought sod it! I’m over the moon with my presents and extremely grateful, so here it is. My 2017 What I Got For Christmas post. I hope you enjoy.
Christmas is the time of year that Mick and I usually go all out. Over the years the number of presents has grown and grown and I’ve always been very lucky. This year we did things a little differently. Due to events throughout the year, we agreed that it would be a low key affair this year and seeing as we were going away, I knew that there wouldn’t be huge piles of gifts. To be honest, I didn’t think I deserved any presents, but Mick is a star and said that I did.
Now I’m not the easiest person to buy for apparently, so each year Mick gives me a budget and I write a list. It saves a lot of tantrums on Christmas Day believe me. I’d decided that I just wanted a few really lovely presents this year – quality over quantity and I even stuck to the budget that I was given. One of us had to … Mick surprised me with a couple of gifts that I wasn’t expecting.
On Christmas Eve as the clock strikes 12, we normally open one present each. As there weren’t many presents this year I said I didn’t want to, that I was happy to wait until morning. However, Mick was quite insistent and disappeared out of the room. After many years with Mick I knew that this meant there was a surprise present, so I started to get excited. And then I opened this beauty.
I knew I was getting a Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir candle, but I was not expecting this. For a long time I have lusted over the luxury candles, but the price tag was way out of my reach. Mick knew how much I wanted one, and he treated me … it’s even engraved. I actually cried when I opened this.
Makeup was always going to feature heavily on my list. I haven’t bought any new makeup in ages … I’ve been relying on PR recently due to the fact that my bank account is not the healthiest. I was very excited to open up some beautiful new products, including the gorgeous Jouer set from my friend Robyn. There will be reviews on these pieces, so look out for them over the next few weeks.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without some bath goodies, and I had to have some Laura Mercier. There’s something just so lovely about a Laura Mercier bath. There were also a couple of Jo Malone bath products and some perfumes as we all know how much I love Jo Malone. I also asked for the Diptyque Baies candle which smells incredible.
I love Kate Spade products and Mick got me a gorgeous notebook and pen from The Paper Parlour which will be perfect for all the blogging ideas I have for 2018. I also wanted some rose gold desk accessories to help my organisation look that little bit prettier.
Obviously the Jo Malone candle was one of my main presents, but there were two more that Mick had up his sleeve. I’ve wanted an iPad Pro and Pencil for a while and he kept saying I wasn’t getting one. Then about a week before Christmas he cracked and told me he’d got me one (he wanted to check on the size and colour). So I am now the proud owner of a rose gold piece of utter tech beauty. My final present was a total surprise. Ever since Dyson launched their hairdryers I have lusted over them, but they’re too pricey for my pocket. So, Mick made my day by surprising me with one.
So as you can see I did very well this year. I much prefer having a few really gorgeous presents than piles of things I won’t love or even use. I feel ridiculously spoilt and extremely grateful for what I received. Now I get to go play with them all.
I hope you enjoyed my What I Got For Christmas post and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. There will be a post on our little festive getaway coming very soon.
