Trouble, Troublemaker yeah that’s your middle name … sorry, I just had to get that out of my system. When Urban Decay announced their new mascara was ‘sex-proof’, the bloggersphere got very excited. You dirty little mares. Like the good girl that I am, I was more interested to see if it would make my lashes look good.
I’ve used Urban Decay’s previous mascaras, and whilst I like them, they’re not ones I reach for. However, when I first saw Troublemaker, I got excited. My lashes are so short and rubbish that anything that promises length and volume appeals to me.
When you see on the packaging that it says you’ll get 13.7x more volume, your expectations start to rise. The formula volumes and lengthens the lashes as it separates them, making it look like you have more lashes. One thing that did appeal about Troublemaker is that you can layer it up as much as you like – the more layers, the more trouble.
I am partial to applying several layers of my mascara but avoiding the clumps can be a problem. Luckily, this mascara doesn’t clump or give you the spider leg lashes that others can.
The brush has tiny precision hooks that grab the lashes and pull the product through. This gives the lashes an instant volumising effect. I did notice that my lashes certainly looked longer after applying which is always good. However, to get the promised volume, I did have to apply 3 layers.
I imagine if you have a good amount of lashes, then you’ll really get the full benefits of Troublemaker. Personally, I don’t mind having to layer it and did enjoy using it. It stayed on all day and well into the night without any flaking or smudging. It was only after about 12 hours of wear that it started to flake a little bit. Thankfully, it also comes off really easily with makeup remover, so you don;t need to scrub at your eyes.
Admittedly, my favourite part is the packaging. It is beautiful. I love the plasmatic finish of the tube and cannot fault how pretty it looks.
As for whether or not it’s sex proof … I’ll let you discover that for yourself.
Troublemaker costs £19.50 and is available to buy here.
