Back in May I wrote a post about elf Cosmetics coming to Superdrug and they have kindly sent me a few more pieces to show you all. If you’re on a budget or simply don’t agree with spending a lot on your makeup, then elf are a purse-friendly brand with some really nice products, so it’s worth checking them out. I was also sent a Liquid Lip Primer, but I can’t find any information on this at all, so let me know if you see it in store.
Sorry for the blurry swatches – some days I fail at this whole blogging lark.
BLENDING SPONGE – TEAL – £6.00
Now I swear by my Real Techniques sponge and the occasional Beauty Blender, so elf were never going to blow me away with this. For the price, its a good little sponge though and it does apply foundation nicely – not amazingly, but it’s nice. There’s a large rounded edge to cover larger areas, and a smaller pointed edge for those nooks and crannies. There are other colours available, and if you just want a relatively cheap sponge, then this is fine. For me, it doesn’t give the same level of application as slightly more expensive sponges, but it does do the job.
TARGETED NATURAL GLOW STICK – CHAMPAGNE GLAM – £6.00
We all know that I am slightly obsessed with highlighters, so this stick intrigued me. It has been designed for when you really want to be specific with where you apply that glow – such as down the bridge of the nose. It is enriched with Vitamin E and Coconut Oil and comes in 3 different shades, and it does give you a glow, but I did find it a little difficult to work with. For me, I prefer powders and liquids – the stick just felt a little bit awkward, but it is a nice product.
WATERPROOF LIQUID EYELINER – JET BLACK – £5.00
When it comes to liquid liners, I do prefer the felt tip style as my hands shake like a bitch the second I even attempt a wing. If you’re not special like me, then the tapered brush style of this should work well for you. You can create a thin line or go a bit thicker and it won’t smudge or run. I do really like this, I just wish it didn’t sense my utter fear!
LIP LACQUER – TEA ROSE & PRALINE – £3.00 EACH
Yeah so I thought that these were liquid lipsticks when they arrived – they’re not. I hate the word lacquer with a passion, so let’s just call these glosses. They give good coverage and a nice high shine finish, but they are fairly sticky. However, for £3.00, they are really nice and there’s several shades available.
