It’s January so that means that it is time for the New Year Glossybox. The theme of January’s box is rebooting and rejuvenating … pressing that reset button and making self-care a priority. After having flu for the last couple of weeks, this is something I can easily get on board with.
This month there are 5 products inside your box, and the box itself is back to the traditional pink packaging with the black ribbon. The box itself will cost you £10.00 a month, although there are various subscription plans available over on the Glossybox website.
So, let’s dig into the New Year Glossybox and see what treats are inside.
BOOTS BEAUTY BENEATH SUPPLEMENTS
While serums and moisturisers are vital for great skin, they can only penetrate so far, which is why it’s a good idea to boost your efforts with a nutrient-rich supplement. The Beauty Beneath formula from scientists at Boosts consists of two soft-gel capsules taken daily, each packed with a complex blend of 19 nutrients essential for healthy, glowing skin. These nutrients work to boost your own collagen production, fading fine lines and wrinkles while leaving your skin softer than ever.
Ok, I’m not going to lie, but I hate it when beauty boxes include supplements. I have no problem with people taking them, I’ve even tried a few myself, but something about them being in a subscription box rubs me up the wrong way. I personally think people should properly research the ingredients and what their skin needs. However, this is just my opinion and some people will probably be excited to try these.
DR BOTANICALS MOROCCAN ROSE SUPERFOOD FACIAL OIL
This gorgeous facial oil is packed full of skin enriching minerals and vitamins, which all work together to rejuvenate, renew and protect your complexion. Moroccan rose is a potent source of vitamins A and C, plus antioxidants essential for protecting against free radicals. Pope three drops onto your fingertips and gently press into your skin, keeping it feeling hydrated and supple all day long.
I have tried this oil before as it often pops up in beauty boxes. It really does leave your skin feeling beautifully hydrated and looking healthier. Personally, it isn’t my favourite oil to use, but it is very nice and worth trying. If you like natural products, then you will enjoy using this.
NAIL MEDIC NAIL & CUTICLE ENERGIZER
If your nails are in need of some serious TLC, this reparative oil is just what you need. A delicious blend of vitamins, plant extracts, revitalising eucalyptus and soothing lavender, it gets to work on brittle nails, split cuticles and dry skin. Just massage a few drops into your nail bed and cuticles for instant hydration and stronger nails!
My nails are just crap – they snap easily and never look nice so I’m looking forward to putting this to the test. I can’t guarantee that I’ll remember to keep using it, but it sounds good and just what my tatty talons are in desperate need of. Maybe 2018 will be the year that I take more care of my nails … maybe.
EVELYN IONA COSMETICS GREEN TEA PRIMER
A good primer is essential for flawless, long-lasting makeup, which is why we’re so smitten with this. Packed with moisturising ingredients including avocado oil and green tea extract, it’ll nourish and protect your complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and large pores, and help your makeup stay put for longer. It’s cruelty and paraben free too!
I love trying out new primers and this is a brand that I’m not familiar with. Products with green tea and avocado oil always work well with my skin, so I have high hopes for this. Normally I don’t like trying brands I’ve never heard of but this sounds like it could be really good.
APICIA CREAM BLUSH
If you’re new to cream blush, this couldn’t be a better introduction. As with all Apicia products, it is rich in organic bee pollen to nourish skin. For a subtle flush of colour, dab it on slowly and blend in, building up the colour as you need. A deep honey pink, this hue suits all skin tones.
I’m still getting to grips with cream products – some work well for me and others not so much, but so far this seems really nice. It blends nicely and adds a pretty flush of colour that isn’t too much. Again, I’ve never heard of this brand but first impressions are good.
Whilst the New Year Glossybox hasn’t blown me away, it’s a nice box on the whole (apart from the supplements). I love the idea of starting fresh in the New Year and taking some time to care for yourself, so this is a good place to start.
