Lipstick Queen Blue By You has arrived at Space NK and it is beautiful. I’ve never tried Lipstick Queen before but I have seen some of their shade shifting lipsticks before and I’ve been intrigued to say the least.
When a blue lipstick arrived through my door I was a bit terrified at first. Anyone who knows me will know that I am not adventurous when it comes to makeup – I’m more of a neutral sort of girl, so I was a bit worried that I’d agreed to review something that just wouldn’t be my cup of tea. Thankfully my fears were unfounded and this is a beautiful lipstick and I haven’t been walking around with bright blue lips!
Lipstick Queen Blue By You has been designed to emanate the free-spirited glamour of the 70s.
Now the decade that brought us ABBA and Disco is (slightly) before my time but I grew up watching Saturday Night Fever and I’ve seen enough photos of my Mum looking very glam back then, so I’m more than happy to embrace this spirit. Think blue eyeshadow and you’re on the right track with this. Whilst I’m glad that particular trend passed, I was keen to see how they replicated this into a lipstick that would be wearable. It’s also a nod to the memory of your first love as well as the beauty in your first heartbreak.
Part of the iconic transformer collection, Lipstick Queen Blue By You starts off as a really beautiful indigo blue that is very pretty, but not a shade I’d feel comfortable wearing. However, this shade quickly transforms into a very wearable pearlized raspberry pink (although still with a slight blue tint) that will look slightly different on each person depending on the natural shade of their lips.
The shade is actually more pigmented than it has shown up on my swatch but it is quite sheer and gives the lips a nice wash of colour.
Lipstick Queen Blue By You is enriched with Shea Butter, Mango Butter and antioxidant Vitamin E, so your lips feel beautiful soft and hydrated as you wear this. I also found that it stayed on my lips longer than I’d expected due to the sheer finish. I had initially thought that these were slightly gimmicky but after trying it, I’m really impressed. Whilst it’s not necessarily the sort of shade I’d wear every day, it is very wearable and I love the fact that it will look different on each person. It’s certainly got me tempted to try more of the Lipstick Queen range.
Lipstick Queen Blue By You retails for £22.00 and is available from Space NK.
