Jo Malone Grapefruit Cologne

Jo Malone Grapefruit Cologne

Jo Malone Grapefruit cologne has been on my wishlist for a good few months.  I first smelt it in Covent Garden and fell in love with the scent.  On that day I went with another fragrance, but since then I’ve been lusting after it.  Every time we go somewhere that sells Jo Malone, I make a beeline straight towards it.

Thankfully, Mick asks me what I want for Christmas so I was able to ask for this.  Normally I go for the 100ml bottles, but seeing as I have about 20 plus Jo Malone colognes to use (not joking), I went for the 30ml bottle.  In terms of money, it works out better to go for the larger bottle as it’s £90.00 for 100ml versus £45.00 for 30ml, but sometimes you just have to be practical.

Abundant grapefruit groves in coastal Spain.  Rosemary, peppermint and pimento add perfect piquancy to grapefruit’s bright and sunny nature.  Uplifting and refreshing.

Jo Malone Grapefruit cologne was launched way back in 1992 when I was just a nipper (ok, so I was knocking on 10), and it is one of the Citrus scents.  Now if you put a piece of grapefruit in front of me and asked me to eat it, I’d politely tell you where to go, but the scent of it always makes me happy.

I can be very fussy when it comes to scents, especially fruity ones.  If they smell to fruity then it can be off-putting to me and end up smelling a bit synthetic.  That is not the case with this.  Yes it is undoubtedly fruity, but it’s also peppery, spicy and even a little bit woody.  Whilst it is a refreshing scent, there’s a masculine undertone to it that I personally love.

The grapefruit and the tangerine blend beautifully together, and when you first spray the cologne, you’re hit with the citrus tones, but these settle into an almost herbal and woody scent.  You can still pick up the citrus, but there’s so much more to it.  With the peppery and spicy notes, it adds a real depth to what could have otherwise been quite a bland scent.

The wear time of this is amazing, I can spray it in the morning and still smell it in the evening – Jo Malone scents are always good quality and this is no exception. Personally, I think this will end up being a late Summer to early Autumn fragrance for me, but I absolutely love it.

You can buy Jo Malone Grapefruit at department stores and on the Jo Malone website.
