Are you a mermaid or a unicorn? Well according to Glossybox, I am a mermaid. The October edit comes in this beautiful box and you’ll get either a unicorn box or a mermaid one. Both are everywhere at the moment, so Glossybox are bang on trend with their theming this month. However, it is October and this definitely has more of a Summer feel … it would be nice to see an Autumnal theme next month.
In keeping with the theme, there are also these gorgeous sweatshirts available. You can get either a mermaid or a unicorn one and they cost £29.99 each. Stock is very limited so you need to be fast. Visit the Glossybox website for more information.
Now even though I was sent this box for PR purposes, I do have to still be very honest in my opinions. Those of you who have followed me for a while will know that I can be quite blunt when it comes to beauty box unboxings. Word of warning – today is no different.
MAKEUP REVOLUTION MERMAIDS VS UNICORNS PALETTE (£4.00)
This is the first time that Makeup Revolution have been included in a Glossybox and not gonna lie, I kind of hope it’s the last. A lot of you will know my feelings on that brand and their dupes, so I was disappointed to see this palette.
I do understand why it is in the box – if fits in with the theme perfectly. However, in my opinion, the shadows just aren’t nice to use and they aren’t the best quality. If you are a Makeup Revolution fan, then I guess you’ll be thrilled by this … for me, I just can’t get excited over it. Sorry.
KAWAII ENTERPRISE BRUSH CLEANSING EGG (£7.99)
Cleaning our makeup brushes is one of life’s necessary evils. Anything that makes the dreaded task easier is a winner with me. I desperately need to clean mine, but there’s over 300 and I’ve not go the patience lol.
I’ve got a couple of these cleansing eggs and they do make the process quicker and easier. I’d definitely recommend using one of these although you can buy them cheaper on Amazon.
LORD & BERRY MAGIC BROW PERFECT EYE BROW PENCIL (£14.00)
Oh this box challenged me – I don’t want to be negative but I have to honest. Lord & Berry appear in most beauty boxes and I’m not a fan. They’re the reason I cancelled my subscriptions but I do know a lot of people who like them.
The brow pencil actually intrigues me though and I’m definitely going to give it a go. Since dying my hair red, I’ve struggled to find a shade for my brows that works, so fingers crossed that this works for me.
SLEEK CREME TO POWDER BLUSH (£5.99)
Whilst I’m not the biggest fan of drugstore makeup, I do like Sleek so it’s nice to see them in the box. There are 6 different shades available, so fingers crossed you don’t get Crimson like I did!
To say this is a bright blush is an understatement but thankfully it blends right out to a more manageable hue. It certainly does transform from a cream into a more powdery texture. I just can’t see what skin tone would suit a bright red blush – it certainly isn’t mine.
There should be a 5th product in the box, and there will be for the subscribers. A last minute change of plan meant that mine didn’t come with the final item, but it is a Cream Colour from Bang On Beauty. It is a multi-purpose cream that can be used as highlight, eyeshadow, blush etc ..
