Fragrance is always a good way to go when giving someone a gift, and with Father’s Day coming up on Sunday, I’ve got some lovely ones to share with you. Father’s Day is a funny one for me – my Dad does not need any more stuff! Plus, he tells me what to buy him, and it’s usually some obscure CD or DVD that no-one in their right mind would even want. Mick and I don’t have children, but we do have fur babies and we have been known to give each other presents from the dog and why not? Besides, my Dad still wears Old Spice, so fragrance is wasted on him – thankfully, Mick is almost as much of a scent junkie as I am.
The only difficulty with giving someone a fragrance as a gift, is that it is such a personal thing – what we might think smells good might not be what they like, so it can be a bit of a gamble. If you’re unsure, sneak a sniff at the fragrances they usually wear to give you an idea of the types of notes they like.
MONT BLANC LEGEND SPIRIT GIFT SET – £39.00
When I think of Mont Blanc, I think of watches and pens, but they also do fragrances. A gift set is always a winner with the men in my family, so this Legend Spirit Gift Set is a nice option for Father’s Day. It contains a 50ml bottle of the Eau De Toilette and a 100ml tube of the Shower Gel.
The fragrance is inspired by modern shades of white and is for the man with a truly independent spirit, so it’s definitely one for Mick! I really like the crisp white packaging, and it will look clean and stylish in any bathroom. The fragrance itself is described as being fresh and intense, so it’s also a good pick for a Summer scent.
Available to buy from Debenhams.
JIMMY CHOO MAN ICE EDT 50ML – £42.00
I am partial to a good old Jimmy Choo fragrance, and Man Ice does not disappoint. They describe it as being more sensual and whimsical than other Jimmy Choo scents, but still with the masculinity you expect. I really like this and think that Mick will too. It is quite a refreshing fragrance, but not weak.
Again, I am loving the simplicity of the bottle design. As women, I know we sometimes tend to be taken in by very pretty and intricate bottles, but I know that most men prefer simple and cleaner designs. Plus, I have a deep love of all things white and crisp at the moment, so this aesthetic appeals to me.
Available to buy at John Lewis.
ETRO MANROSE EAU DE PARFUM 100ML – £118.00
This fragrance is a little bit of a risk for Mick, but I think he will love it. I don’t normally associate rose as being in a man’s scent, but it works. It really works. There’s not a strong rose aroma, but you can tell that it is there. I am half tempted to wear this myself, as it smells so beautiful.
Design wise, it’s also quite different to the other fragrances I have featured. There’s an intricate design on the bottle and I think that it looks really unique and different for a male scent. This little floral and oriental (floriental?) fragrance is a firm winner with me – fingers crossed that Mick agrees.
Available to buy from Escentual.
