We all know that I like my high end makeup, but every once in a while a drugstore brand wins my cold heart. I was aware of B Makeup, but I think I have only ever tried their brush cleaner before, so I didn’t know what their makeup was like. When a parcel full of products arrived I was pleasantly surprised and started to play with them straight away. I love it when I fall for a new brand, and seeing as B Makeup isn’t going to break the bank, I won’t feel guilty when I add to my collection.
B Makeup was launched in 2013 and their products are vegan and cruelty-free. They use insider expertise to offer products and knowhow to help everyone become their own makeup artist. The products that I was sent are part of their new collection, which they have spent 2 years developing. I was also sent some pieces from their new collaboration with their Makeup Ambassador Cassie Lomas (her brother plays Warren in Hollyoaks FYI).
The new range looks amazing, so I was excited to delve into the pieces I was sent.
SCULT & HIGHLIGHT CONTOUR KIT – MEDIUM / DARK – £8.99
Now I make no secret of the fact that I am not into contouring, but I do like bronzer and highlighter. Just because I don’t feel the need to carve out a different face, I still managed to get a lot of use out of this product.
The bronzing shade is nice without being too warm or too orange-toned, and it does add some nice definition to the face. The highlight shade isn’t one that I would choose as I prefer lighter tones, but I was sent the medium / dark one, so perhaps the lighter one would be better for me. It is nicely pigmented though and applies well.
SCULPT & HIGHLIGHT CONTOUR PEN – 03 DARK – £8.99
OK, so this product is totally wasted on me – I just can’t be bothered to sit and draw lines on my face. However, if contouring is your thing, then you will probably love this.
It’s double-ended with a soft and creamy formula and is so easy to apply. It is too dark for me, but there are lots of different shades available. One day I will probably embrace the whole contour trend, but for now it’s just not for me.
CASSIE LOMAS WHIPPED BRONZER – £12.99
I 100% guarantee you that if you get this you will develop a craving for chocolate mousse – the texture is so similar. It is so soft and spongy and actually quite fun to play with.
The colour is a little too dark for me, but I have managed to get a little bit of a tan, so it sort of works. When it comes to application, I have found that using my fingers works well or swirling a brush into the formula works well too. A little goes a long way with this, so go gentle.
CASSIE LOMAS SHEER LIQUID ILLUMINATOR – £9.99
Aaaah it’s like the Highlighting gods have shone down on me with this beauty. I was always a powder highlight sort of girl, but I am embracing liquid formulas more at the moment.
This has a lovely pigmented formula that blends out perfectly – although you really really don’t need a lot of this … at all! I have been enjoying using this on its own or mixed in with my foundation for when I want a beautiful glowing base.
LIP & CHEEK TINT – £6.99
I do love me a multipurpose product, and these are gorgeous. I was sent Crimson Caress and Say My Name and there are 6 shades available.
They have a lovely creamy, lightweight formula and they apply so beautifully. I like to keep one in my bag for when I am out and need to freshen up my look. You can build up the colour to whatever you prefer and I love them.
LIP LINER – CHOCOLATE – £4.99
Don’t go off my awful swatch when making your mind up on this. I am just not that great at swatching. I love lip liners so this was nice to try out.
I was sent Chocolate and it has a nice matte formula that gives good definition to the lips and definitely helped prevent my lipstick from bleeding. It also works really well as an all over lip colour for then you want a subtle colour.
LIPSTICKS – £6.99
There are two different formulas available for the B Makeup lipsticks – Luminous Silk and Velvet Matte. I was sent Mrs Jones (Luminous Silk) and Mulberry Smooch (Velvet Matte) and I wasn’t massively blown away by them, although for the price, they’re not bad.
The Luminous Silk formula contains jojoba seed oil which lets it glide onto the lips, although this results in more or a wash of colour than anything massively pigmented. The Velvet Matte formula is nicer and doesn’t feel drying on the lips thanks to the addition of Shea Butter.
MATTE LIQUID LIP – £6.99
I am a big fan of liquid lipsticks, so these were what I was really excited to try out. The formula is non-drying and non-sticky and feels really comfortable to wear. I really like these and they have serious staying power!
Cassie Lomas – The Nineties
Overall, I am really impressed with the quality of B Makeup and will definitely be trying out more.
